By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasure of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.

"Eternal Pleasure"
A Devotional by Tony Evans
From "A Moment For Your Soul"
Many of us entertain misconceptions about God. For instance, we don't understand His viewpoint on pleasure. One way of describing heaven is that it will be the uninterrupted enjoyment of God. Every second of eternity will be exhilarating. There will never be a moment of boredom, discouragement, depression, or anguish. It will be uninterrupted enjoyment of the pleasures of God.
And God doesn't expect us to wait until we get to heaven to share in His pleasure. However, for us to experience this now, we have to live on His terms. We should seek His pleasure. God is delighted when we choose Him over our own desires, our own wants, and even our own perceived needs. Moses knew that earthly pleasures last only for a season. He chose to suffer in the position where God had placed him because he knew that he would one day receive an eternal reward.
Are you living for momentary pleasures, or are you investing in the rewards of pleasure you will one day receive when you reach eternity?
